Cutaway Collars Make Come Back

Aug 31, 2010 Posted Under: Wardrobe Consulting

In the past, we’ve given you the low-down on some pretty uncommon collars – the detachable collar, the double collar, and the mandarin collar – but just when you thought there was nothing new under the sun when it comes to your shirt’s neck area, think again. Today we bring you yet another not-quite-mainstream collar that was once standard among royals and silver-age Hollywood stars: the cutaway collar. Thanks in large part to the resurgence of the “timeless” tailored look in men’s fashion, the cutaway collar is slowly making its way back onto stores shelves, with an extreme modern twist.

The cutaway collar is, as the name would lead you to believe, a collar that has had its points cut away – or at the very least, severely reduced. Often confused

The Second-Base Call

Aug 31, 2010 Posted Under: Apparel Glossary

‘Round these parts, we’re seen just about everything when it comes to t-shirts, and the same goes when it comes to Breast Cancer Awareness T-shirts.  A common theme among BCA shirts is using humor and saucy attitudes to confront the disease, so statements like “I heart boobies” and “Save the Hooters” are something we’re used to seeing.

But we, of course, might have a certain immunity to this kind of content that your average high school principal does not.

A principal in Citrus Heights, CA is set to deliver a decision on whether or not to allow his students to sport “I heart Boobies” shirts (and others like them), which are being sold as a Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser.

While teachers are objecting that the students are simply wearing these for shock value and that their intentions actually mock breast cancer awareness, the students themselves are pointing out that the big picture is to raise money and awareness for breast cancer.

And so, CP community, we come to a poll:

Remember, Breast Cancer Awareness month is just a month away… and whether your wardrobe needs are G-rated or PG-13 for this particular holiday, rest assured that you can find a great T-shirt for a great cause among the 1.3 million breast cancer t-shirts and other groovy products that our community has created.

Boyfriend clothing that gets a girl a boyfriend

Aug 30, 2010 Posted Under: Clothing Industry News

There are some items that men hate to see a woman wearing, and some they find incredibly appealing – are you wearing the boyfriend attractors or the man repellers? What men hate:

Sloppy boyfriend jeans that hide a female’s shape

Why – because they conceal the femininity of all women and render them graceless

Faded outsized T-shirts

Why – because they suggest that you don’t care how you look and have no interest in your appearance

What they love:

Rugby shirts – especially oversized ones

Why – because they make you look feminine and fragile and the button front offers a hint of feminine cleavage without looking trashy.

How to wear them – choose a hooped pattern if you are slim as it adds an illusion of curviness to your shape, but choose a solid colour rugby shirt with contrast collar if you are on the larger side as it’s more slimming. Try wearing a rug

Frankenshoes: F&F Leopard print cuffed sandal at Tesco

Aug 28, 2010 Posted Under: Apparel Glossary

We were a little bit lost for words when we saw these shoes.  But are they shoes?  Tesco are calling them sandals, but with that amount of fabric up the leg, surely they are entering the realms of boots?  But there’s nothing covering the foot.  This makes them ”bandals“. Now, we didn’t like bandals to start with, but we like them even less in this leopard print version. What do you think?

Bail is set at the sale price of £7.50 (what, you mean these didn’t sell out at the full price?  Shocking!) and the release fee to buy their freedom can be paid here.
