Cropped cardi

Dec 20, 2010 Posted Under: Wardrobe Consulting

An ebay seller gave me a bag of clothes that were damaged, stained, torn and unsellable.  They wouldn’t be taken by thrift shops, and would have undoubtably ended up in landfill.

I got my Christmas present early this year, an overlocker.  This is the first time I have put it to good use.  Two items picked from the bag of disrepair; a cropped dusty pink cardi, and a stained 80′s white big shoulder padded glitter top.

Using my overlocker, I cut and serged two sections of the sheer glitter fabric, and stitched onto the bottom of the cardi

And herewith a new cropped cardi for my wardrobe, saving two items of clothing from landfill, hurrah

Edward Green Palmerston Top Drawer

Dec 20, 2010 Posted Under: Apparel Glossary

Edward Green is in their 120th year of fine quality shoe making and they just keep getting better and better. Not only do they set the standard by which all English hand grade shoes are made they do it with grace and sophistication and they don’t rest on their laurels.

This pair of monk strap shoes made expressly for our good client G.D. in Montreal reflects the superior craftsmanship that goes into the making of the finest of the EG collection, Top Drawer. They are the créme de la créme of shoes made to order each pair taking as long as six months to produce and each one worth the wait.

Not only are TD shoes extremely elegant and finely crafted they fit the feet unlike any other EG ready to wear shoe. If

Save the World T-Shirt from Print Liberation

Dec 16, 2010 Posted Under: Apparel Glossary

So I finally finished the last of my five finals earlier today–it feels good to get that load off my back. I figured I’d celebrate by posting a shirt from one of my favorite brands, Print Liberation.

This one is called Save the World, and is quite witty in my opinion. It’s a goofily personified earth vomiting out green sludge, presumably created by humans. I think the message is valid, and more important for you aesthetic minded people, it’s funny, eye-catching, and just looks good.

If you’d like, you can pick it up for $25 at Print Liberation, printed on American Apparel. The stock is

Men’s Fashion Milestones Of The Decade

Dec 16, 2010 Posted Under: Wardrobe Consulting

With December right around the gravy-soaked, tinsel-covered corner, this is the time of year when people’s thoughts turn to the past and we at ShirtsMyWay would be remiss if we failed to get similarly nostalgic about our favorite topic: men’s fashion. Although men’s fashion moves too slowly to really warrant a year-end recap, this might be a good time to look at changes in the way men dress over the past decade.

Formal is the New Casual: Okay, so suits and dress shirts have always been cornerstones of the white collar working man’s wardrobe, but for most guys prior to the mid-00’s, they were worn either out of necessity to conform with business dress standards, or with a sense of Patrick Bateman-esque glee. Round abo
